LUCANIA. Metapontion. Circa 330-290 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 22 mm, 7.97 g, 1 h). Head of Demeter to right, wearing wreath of barley ears, pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. META Ear of barley with leaf to right; above leaf, plow; below leaf, M[A]. HN Italy 1581. Johnson Class C, 1.2 (same dies). A beautiful piece struck from one of the finest die pairs in the late Metapontian series. Very light roughness on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.

From an important collection of coins from Magna Graecia and Punic Sicily, formed in the 1990s and early 2000s.
